Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled perioperative nursing care in the operating room, ensuring patient safety and positive outcomes
• Prepare operating room environment and instruments, maintaining strict sterile technique
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to coordinate efficient patient flow
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively and communicate changes to the team promptly
• Assist with positioning, counts, and instrument handling to support safe surgical procedures
• Document patient care and operative details accurately and timely
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (Louisiana license required or eligible)
• Operating Room (OR) experience preferred; demonstrated perioperative skills a strong plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) preferred when applicable
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills in fast-paced settings
• Ability to follow sterile technique and OR protocols consistently

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Completion of accredited nursing program and clinical OR training

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in perioperative nursing practices and sterile field management
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and instrument counts
• Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring, and documentation
• Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergent situations
