Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures
• Prepare the operating room and surgical instrumentation, ensuring a safe sterile environment
• Monitor patients' condition throughout the perioperative process and report changes promptly
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to deliver seamless care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and surgical events
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive OR culture

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or eligibility to obtain one promptly)
• Perioperative/OR experience preferred; new grads with strong perioperative training may be considered
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; CNOR or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Comfort with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR workflows
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments, supplies, and procedures
• Strong situational awareness, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills
• Comfort using electronic medical records and documenting perioperative care
• Team-oriented mindset with a focus on patient safety and efficiency
