Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care by preparing patients and the operating room for safe surgical procedures
• Maintain sterile technique and manage the sterile field throughout cases to protect patient safety
• Anticipate surgeon needs and assist with instrumentation, supplies, and procedural flow
• Assess patients pre- and post-operatively and communicate changes to the surgical and anesthesia teams
• Document perioperative care and patient status accurately in the electronic medical record
• Participate in Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and complete required skills checklists
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and throughput
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and facility policies including immunization and health screening requirements

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license - must be eligible to work in Oregon
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS as preferred or facility-defined
• Previous Operating Room (OR) experience or perioperative training preferred
• Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Ability to pass background checks, Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen, and fit testing
• Up-to-date immunizations and health requirements: Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, plus a current physical/health statement
• Strong patient assessment, communication, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and case flow
• Patient monitoring and recognition of intraoperative changes
• Strong documentation skills and comfort with electronic medical records
• Ability to prioritize tasks and stay calm in high-stakes situations
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and collaboration with surgical teams
