Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem, 8.5-hour shifts; schedule varies based on facility needs (days/times as needed)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures
Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room environment
Assist the surgical team by anticipating needs and passing instruments
Perform pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments and documentation
Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to promote efficient case flow
Conduct equipment checks and assist with instrument/implant management

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana required
Experience in Operating Room/Perioperative nursing preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional perioperative certifications a plus
Strong clinical judgment, attention to sterile technique, and teamwork skills
Ability to adapt to variable per-diem scheduling and fast-paced OR settings

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of aseptic technique and perioperative patient care
Familiarity with common surgical instruments and OR supplies
Effective communication and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams
Accurate clinical documentation and time management
Calm, patient-focused approach during high-acuity situations
