Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate perioperative nursing care for patients in the operating room
• Prepare the OR by ensuring sterile technique, instrument availability, and equipment functionality
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to support smooth procedures
• Monitor patient status throughout perioperative phases and respond to changes promptly
• Perform accurate documentation and handoffs to maintain continuity of care
• Participate in Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and complete skills checklists
• Adhere to infection prevention protocols and facility policies to protect patients and staff
• Support patient and family education pre- and post-procedure to improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state license required) and license/certificate verification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Experience or comfort working in the Operating Room environment (perioperative experience preferred)
• Willingness to complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Ability to pass Fit Test, Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen, and background checks
• Up-to-date immunizations: Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, and TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA)
• Current physical/health statement on file as required by facility

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic and sterile technique mastery and instrument handling
• Patient positioning and perioperative assessment skills
• Strong communication and teamwork in fast-paced surgical settings
• Familiarity with perioperative safety protocols and surgical workflows
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic health record use
• Ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively in emergent situations
• Detail-oriented mindset for equipment checks and surgical counts
