Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Neuro Stepdown (SDU) patients
• Perform focused neurological assessments and monitor telemetry trends closely
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and document accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to drive patient-centered plans of care
• Recognize and respond to clinical changes and escalate concerns promptly
• Educate patients and families about condition, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
• Contribute to unit quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based practice

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or Compact RN license
• Recent clinical experience in Neuro Stepdown, SDU, or similar progressive/stepdown setting preferred
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in acute neurological care
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and function effectively in a fast-paced unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neurological assessment and monitoring
• Experience with telemetry and interpreting cardiac/neurologic trends
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Proficient documentation in electronic medical record systems
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient/family education skills
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and respond during acute events
