Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the Med/Surg unit
• Assess patients regularly and develop/update individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and care team members to coordinate care
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes promptly to the team
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
• Document patient care thoroughly and maintain accurate clinical records
• Support unit initiatives to improve patient outcomes and workflows

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Alabama or compact RN license where applicable
• Prior Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or as required by facility
• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to rotating schedules

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing practices and common clinical conditions
• Proficient in IV therapy, wound care, and basic telemetry monitoring as applicable
• Skilled at electronic health record documentation and clinical charting
• Critical thinking and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
• Patient education and family-centered care techniques
