Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered bedside care for Med/Surg patients
• Assess and monitor patient condition, responding promptly to changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Document assessments, interventions and patient progress clearly in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments and discharge planning
• Support admissions, transfers and safe discharges to maintain smooth patient flow

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (current) — must be eligible to practice in Louisiana
• Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing (Med/Surg) — comfortable with a fast-paced unit
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications a plus
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing diploma required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg patient care principles and best practices
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy fundamentals
• Skilled in patient assessment, vital sign monitoring and wound care
• Comfortable with electronic health record documentation
• Teamwork, time management and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic setting
• Effective patient and family education techniques
