Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a busy Med/Surg unit
• Perform thorough assessments, develop care plans, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to policy
• Monitor patient status and respond to changes promptly, escalating to the care team as needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate excellent patient care
• Document care accurately and timely in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans with empathy

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse license valid in Louisiana (compact license accepted where applicable)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred
• Prior Med/Surg experience preferred — able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills and a team-focused mindset
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and participate in unit-based scheduling needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid foundation in Med/Surg nursing principles and best practices
• Proficiency in medication administration, IV therapy and patient assessment
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation and care coordination
• Strong critical thinking, time management and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families and interdisciplinary team members
