Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient conditions on the Med/Surg unit, using clinical judgment to prioritize care
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to create and follow patient care plans
• Provide clear education and compassionate support to patients and families during transitions of care
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses thoroughly in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and patient safety practices

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing (Med/Surg) — comfort with a variety of adult patient populations
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong clinical assessment skills, prioritization, and time management
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate patient-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, wound care, and monitoring
• Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) for documentation
• Ability to triage, escalate concerns, and collaborate across disciplines
• Compassionate bedside manner and patient/family education skills
