Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments and monitor patients’ clinical status throughout your shift
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately
• Document patient care clearly and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Contribute to unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Clinical experience in Medical-Surgical nursing (experience level to be discussed during hiring)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS or specialty certifications are a plus
• Comfortable working 12.5-hour clinical shifts and managing a med/surg patient load
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient assessment, vital sign interpretation and trending
• Medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Understanding of care coordination, discharge planning and patient education
• Infection control practices and safe patient handling
• Ability to prioritize, triage and manage multiple patient needs
