Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a Medical-Surgical unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Monitor patient progress, recognize changes in condition, and escalate as needed
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
• Document patient care promptly and accurately in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compassionate environment for patients and visitors

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (LSBN) — must be eligible to practice in Louisiana
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
• Clinical experience in Medical-Surgical nursing preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced inpatient setting
• Current immunizations and CPR/BLS as required by facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing principles and best practices
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Skilled in patient assessment, wound care, and post-op monitoring
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Team-oriented mindset with strong patient advocacy skills
• Able to prioritize, triage, and escalate care appropriately
