Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
• Assess patient condition, develop and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to policy
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and allied health staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient status and unit needs
• Support a culture of safety, quality improvement and patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and IV/medication administration skills
• Ability to pass required background check and drug screening
• Comfort working in a fast-paced acute care environment and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making
• Medication administration and IV management
• Proficient documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Time management and prioritization on a busy med-surg unit
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with evidence-based nursing practices and safety protocols
• Basic familiarity with common adult medical-surgical conditions and interventions
• Adaptability to changing patient acuity and unit demands
