Shift Type: Rotating 12.5-hour shifts. Typical examples: Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (DAY) or Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (NOC). Schedule includes day and night rotations and occasional weekends.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered Med/Surg nursing care that makes a real difference
• Assess and monitor patient status, recognizing changes and escalating concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document all care accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to create and follow care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans in clear, respectful ways
• Perform admissions, discharges, and transfers while ensuring continuity of care
• Maintain accurate, timely charts and uphold facility policies and regulatory standards
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and a culture of continuous learning

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana required
• Experience in Med/Surg nursing — comfortable with a fast-paced inpatient environment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and other certifications encouraged when available
• Ability to pass required background checks and immunization/health screenings
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg patient assessment and interventions
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Familiarity with common inpatient monitoring and charting practices
• Good clinical judgment and ability to prioritize care for multiple patients
• Teamwork, time management, and hands-on bedside skills
