Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on Med-Surg/Telemetry units
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret rhythm strips to support timely interventions
• Administer and titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem and insulin per protocols
• Float between Med-Surg, PCU and ED boarding areas while maintaining consistent care standards
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned: coordinate patient care, staff assignments and communication
• Delegate and supervise nurse aides to ensure safe, efficient patient care
• Use Epic for accurate documentation and interdisciplinary communication
• Collaborate with RT, pharmacy and hospitalists for 24/7 acute-care support

Qualifications

• Current WA Registered Nurse license or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry preferred)
• Comfortable reading telemetry strips and managing telemonitoring
• Experience with IV therapy, drip medications and supervising nurse aides
• Able and willing to float between units and adapt to changing assignments
• Epic EMR experience preferred; unit-specific orientation provided
• NIHSS certification preferred but not required

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
• Med-Surg and PCU clinical assessment and intervention
• IV therapy and drip medication management
• Stroke/CVA and ETOH withdrawal care knowledge
• Effective delegation, charge nurse coordination and team leadership
• Proficient electronic charting in Epic
• Strong communication with multidisciplinary teams (RT, pharmacy, hospitalists)
