Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical patients
Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns promptly
Document care clearly and timely in the patient record
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring peers and supporting teamwork

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana (or compact RN license if applicable)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
Clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred
Strong assessment, prioritization and critical thinking skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
Medication administration and infusion experience
Proficiency with patient assessment and monitoring
Comfortable using electronic medical record systems
Excellent communication, time management and patient education skills
