Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients using the Nursing Process and document findings accurately in the patient chart
• Develop individualized plans of care based on assessments and patient needs
• Implement nursing interventions and chart progress to ensure continuity of care
• Evaluate patients’ responses to treatment and update care plans accordingly
• Oversee and delegate specific aspects of the patient plan of care to unit staff
• Supervise and mentor co-workers to maintain high standards of clinical practice
• Perform other duties as assigned to support unit operations and patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license required (LARA and/or Nursys must show Active Michigan/MI license)
• American Heart Association BLS (current)
• Minimum 2+ years of Med-Surg nursing experience (required)
• Med/Surg Observation experience (required)
• Current skills checklist (within 1 year) pertinent to Med-Surg
• Two completed supervisory reference forms within the last two years
• Strong documentation, delegation, and supervisory skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Nursing Process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Patient assessment and critical thinking for Med-Surg populations
• Care planning and documentation best practices
• Delegation and supervision of unit staff
• Experience with Oncology, Obstetrics and Hospice patients is a plus
• Familiarity with Med/Surg observation workflows and protocols
