Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Med Surg and orthopedic nursing care to adult patients
• Collaborate with surgical teams and allied health staff to coordinate patient care
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Document patient status and interventions clearly in the chart, Epic preferred
• Support patient education and discharge planning to improve outcomes
• Float to other Med Surg units as needed to maintain safe staffing and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Illinois or compact state (typical requirement for practice)
• 2+ years of Med Surg and/or orthopedic nursing experience
• Prior surgical nursing experience or comfort working with postoperative patients
• BLS required; ACLS or other advanced certifications helpful
• Epic experience preferred
• Ability to work nights and commit to every other weekend rotation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med Surg and orthopedic clinical knowledge
• Postoperative and surgical nursing skills
• Proficiency or comfort with Epic electronic health record
• Excellent clinical judgment and critical thinking
• Clear communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Flexibility to float among Med Surg units when needed
