Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver total patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate
• Perform thorough patient assessments and prioritize care interventions
• Provide clear, compassionate patient teaching and education tailored to individual needs
• Supervise and coordinate activities of ancillary personnel to ensure smooth patient care
• Maintain professional nursing standards and accurate clinical documentation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and discharge planning
• Respond to emergencies confidently using BCLS/ACLS protocols and hospital policies

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Iowa RN license required
• BLS (American Heart Association) required
• ACLS required
• TNCC, PALS, NRP preferred
• Experience in Med-Surg preferred but new grads with strong fundamentals welcome
• Ability to complete required immunizations, drug screen, fit test, physical exam and background checks prior to start
• Completion of mandatory reporter certification and CareLearning modules prior to start

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ASN/BSN or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of the nursing process and med-surg patient care principles
• Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring and documentation
• Comfortable teaching patients and families about care plans and discharge instructions
• Able to supervise ancillary staff and coordinate team-based care
• Proficient in responding to acute changes and following ACLS/BLS protocols
• Detail-oriented, organized, and compassionate under pressure
