Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to laboring patients through delivery
• Deliver postpartum care and support to new moms and families
• Care for newborns in the Baby Unit with attention to safety and bonding
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings clearly to the care team
• Manage overflow patients from the Progressive Care Unit when needed
• Float to other units as required to meet patient care needs and maintain continuity
• Document care accurately and timely in the patient record
• Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians and multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (required)
• Experience caring in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum and Newborn/Baby Unit settings
• Comfortable floating to other units and managing PCU overflow patients
• Strong patient assessment and communication skills
• Facility-required certifications (e.g., BLS) as per hospital policy

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery clinical skills and monitoring
• Postpartum maternal care and education
• Newborn assessment and basic neonatal care
• Patient assessment, triage and escalation
• Adaptability to float across units and manage varying acuity
• Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration
