Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to laboring patients from admission through delivery
• Perform fetal heart monitoring and interpret tracings to support safe birthing decisions
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, neonatology and the care team to coordinate care
• Prepare and assist during deliveries, including emergency interventions when necessary
• Deliver neonatal resuscitation following NRP guidelines when required
• Document assessments, interventions and patient education clearly and accurately
• Participate in unit-specific competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-appropriate licensure required)
• Current BLS certification required
• PALS, ACLS and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN / Fetal Heart Monitoring training or equivalent experience required
• Demonstrated experience in Labor and Delivery preferred
• Ability to complete facility onboarding requirements such as fit test, immunizations, drug screen and health screening

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of Labor and Delivery workflows and maternal/newborn physiology
• Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring and electronic fetal monitoring interpretation
• Skilled in neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization
• Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking and emergency response skills
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients and interdisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with competency testing and skills checklists
