Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care to adults in the ICU
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status, recognizing and responding to changes quickly
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and advanced life support interventions with precision
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams — physicians, respiratory therapists, and others — to deliver coordinated care
• Operate and manage critical care equipment, including ventilators and monitoring systems
• Educate patients and families about care plans, procedures, and post-discharge needs
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to elevate patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana required
• Clinical experience in an ICU or critical care setting (ICU skill set required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred or required per facility
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills in fast-paced environments
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Current immunizations and ability to meet facility health requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of critical care nursing principles and protocols
• Comfort with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) documentation
• Proficiency in medication administration and titration for critically ill patients
• Excellent communication, triage, and crisis-management skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
