Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based critical care to seriously ill adult patients in the ICU
• Perform thorough assessments and continuously monitor patient status to detect changes early
• Administer medications and advanced therapies safely and accurately following protocols
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute care plans
• Operate and troubleshoot ICU equipment, including ventilators and hemodynamic monitors
• Educate and support patients and families during stressful and complex care situations
• Document patient care clearly and promptly in the electronic health record to ensure continuity

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana
• Critical care experience in an ICU setting (recent ICU experience preferred)
• Comfort and experience with 12-hour shift patterns
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - BSN preferred
• Completion of relevant critical care orientation or specialty training preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in ICU patient assessment and titration of critical care therapies
• Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and clear clinical documentation
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Calm under pressure with strong decision-making and time-management abilities
