Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients using age-specific criteria and clinical judgment to determine care needs
• Develop and implement individualized care plans for critically ill and post-open-heart patients
• Evaluate patient responses and adjust interventions to promote recovery and safety
• Provide leadership and teach/delegate tasks to LPNs, PCTs and unit secretaries to ensure coordinated care
• Float to units within your skill set as needed to support patient care across the facility
• Document care and assessments accurately in the EMR (MediTech) and maintain required certifications

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license or Compact RN license (must be active; Nursys verification required)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience — REQUIRED
• Immediate Open Heart Recovery experience — REQUIRED
• Active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications — REQUIRED
• Active NIHSS certification — REQUIRED
• TNCC certification — Highly preferred
• Willingness to float to units within scope of practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing skills including patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
• Open Heart Recovery post-operative care expertise
• Ability to teach and delegate to LPNs and PCTs effectively
• Familiarity with MediTech EMR for documentation
• Comfort working night shifts and supporting a fast-paced ICU environment
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to act on evidence-based practice
