Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced cardiac critical care to adult ICU patients, including post-open-heart postoperative management
• Perform and manage advanced procedures such as intubation and hemodynamic monitoring with precision
• Manage and monitor mechanical support devices and modalities like Impella and CRRT when indicated
• Respond as a designated critical care responder to rapid responses and code blue events with confidence
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech, ensuring continuity and safety
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about care plans, medications and recovery expectations with compassion

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in accordance with state requirements
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or cardiac critical care experience
• ACLS and BLS required
• CCRN certification is a strong plus
• Experience caring for post open-heart patients and familiarity with Impella and CRRT preferred
• Comfortable floating to PCU/medical-surgical units as needed and working within participative scheduling

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced cardiac critical care assessment and interventions
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Airway management and intubation skills
• Familiarity with Impella device management and troubleshooting
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) knowledge
• Proficient documentation in Meditech or similar electronic health records
• Strong critical thinking, rapid response and team communication skills
