Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for adults with hematology and oncology diagnoses
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias, intervening quickly and appropriately
• Administer and manage IV therapies, infusions, blood products, and complex drips (insulin, heparin)
• Deliver chemotherapy and manage post-chemotherapy body fluid handling according to protocol
• Perform central line and PICC care including blood draws and port management
• Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome
• Document accurately in EPIC and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Participate in Rapid Response Team activations and support unit infection prevention and fall-prevention initiatives
• Float to other Med/Surg and Oncology units as needed and support team staffing priorities

Qualifications

• Active RN license in appropriate jurisdiction (must meet facility credentialing) — please ensure you meet state requirements
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience (must meet experience within the last 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass)
• BLS and ACLS required
• Oncology specialty certification (OCN/ONS) preferred
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting
• Comfort with chemotherapy administration, blood product administration, and IV/central line management
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing fundamentals
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
• Blood product administration and transfusion protocols
• Central line and PICC line care and blood draws
• Feeding tube care and management
• Chemotherapy handling and oncology emergency recognition
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE best practices
• Use of Rapid Response Teams and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Proficiency with GE B450 telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, and EPIC charting
