Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in the emergency setting
• Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and initiate lifesaving interventions
• Administer medications, IV therapies and emergency treatments safely
• Perform and interpret basic rhythm strips and use NIHSS for stroke assessments
• Coordinate care with physicians, techs and support staff to ensure smooth patient flow
• Lead or support resuscitation efforts and rapid response situations
• Document patient care clearly and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Provide patient and family education with empathy and clarity

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license for California (Nursys verification listed)
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications required as indicated
• CPI certification for safe patient management
• NIHSS competency for stroke assessment
• Completion of site onboarding items such as Prime Core Competencies Exam and Prime Skills Checklist
• Current immunizations and health screenings as required by employer

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency assessment and triage skills
• Rhythm interpretation and basic ECG recognition
• Proficiency with NIHSS stroke scale
• IV therapy, medication administration and emergency protocols
• Comfort working in a fast paced ER environment
• Clear communication, teamwork and crisis management
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation best practices
