Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the electrophysiology (EP) lab, ensuring patient safety before, during, and after procedures
- Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and colleagues to prepare and monitor patients for EP studies and catheter ablations
- Operate and monitor cardiac rhythm and hemodynamic equipment; respond rapidly to changes and escalate when needed
- Maintain sterile technique and participate in procedural set-up, instrument handling, and equipment troubleshooting
- Educate patients and families about procedures, post-procedure care, and follow-up instructions in clear, compassionate terms
- Document patient care accurately and timely in the medical record, including procedural events and recovery progress
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in the EP lab, sharing observations and suggestions to improve safety and efficiency
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted RN license (state license required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required depending on facility
- Experience in an EP lab, cardiac cath lab, or electrophysiology environment preferred
- Comfort with cardiac monitoring, rhythm interpretation, and invasive cardiac procedures
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced procedural team
- Ability to follow sterile technique and maintain procedural protocols
- Willingness to work variable shifts including occasional evenings or weekends as needed
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of electrophysiology procedures such as EP studies and catheter ablations
- Familiarity with cardiac rhythm monitoring and hemodynamic monitoring
- Competence in sterile technique and procedural room workflow
- Basic ECG interpretation and recognition of arrhythmias
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot common EP lab equipment
- Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and situational awareness
