Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform rapid, accurate patient assessments and prioritize care in the emergency setting
• Implement and evaluate individualized nursing plans using the nursing process
• Provide and document direct patient care within the scope of practice in Telemetry and ED
• Triage patients effectively to ensure timely, appropriate care and resource use
• Communicate changes in clinical condition to physicians and the care team clearly and promptly
• Teach patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care with compassion
• Adhere to EMTALA regulations and report suspected child or adult abuse to appropriate agencies
• Maintain strict patient privacy, confidentiality, and documentation standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (or compact state privileges as applicable)
• Demonstrated triage experience in an emergency department
• Telemetry and emergency nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS required
• Current ACLS required
• Current PALS required
• DCI/BVP certification as listed by the facility
• Successful completion of required facility testing: pharmacology, core competencies, skills checklist and specialty exam
• Completion of required health screenings and immunizations per facility policy

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred but not strictly required
• Current RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills in high-acuity settings
• Familiarity with EMTALA and emergency department regulatory requirements
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork in fast-paced environments
• Patient and family teaching with a focus on safety and clear instructions
• Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and treatment response
• Competency in documentation and use of electronic health records
