Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
• Rapidly assess, triage and prioritize patients in a fast-paced ED environment
• Administer medications, perform procedures and monitor patient responses safely
• Collaborate with physicians, techs and support staff to deliver coordinated care
• Document assessments, interventions and patient progress accurately in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and training to learn unit protocols and best practices
• Support throughput and patient flow to help the department run smoothly

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
• Active BLS certification; ACLS preferred or required by facility policy
• Experience in an emergency department or acute care setting preferred
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills
• IV therapy, medication administration and basic emergency procedures
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and remain calm under pressure
• Patient- and family-centered communication and education
