Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and provide timely, high-quality nursing care to emergency patients
• Stabilize and manage acute conditions following established protocols and best practices
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams to determine and implement effective care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care in an approachable way
• Participate in departmental initiatives to improve patient flow, safety, and quality outcomes

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred
• Comfort working in a fast-paced emergency department environment
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; patient-centered mindset
• Per diem availability and flexibility to work varied shifts

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency triage and rapid assessment
• Trauma and acute care basics
• IV insertion, medication administration, and urgent interventions
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks under pressure
• Patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication
