Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate critical care to CV and CT patients, including post-operative recovery directly from the OR
• Continuously assess and manage hemodynamics and ventilator settings for complex ICU patients
• Safely manage advanced cardiac support devices such as Impella and IABP when required
• Perform accurate, timely documentation in Cerner and communicate clearly during handoffs
• Collaborate with intensivists, RT, pharmacy, and unit support staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond and adapt quickly in a high-acuity environment and float to other ICUs or the ED for inpatient ICU holds as needed
• Mentor patients and families through recovery and provide education on post-op care and safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS (must be current)
• Must have experience recovering fresh hearts directly from the OR within the past 6 months
• Minimum ~3 years ICU experience preferred with strong CVICU or SICU background
• Comfortable working 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios in a high-acuity environment
• CCRN preferred but not required

Education

• Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing acceptable; BSN is not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record charting
• Hemodynamic monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Ventilator management experience (Draeger, Hamilton G5, Galileo; LVT transport vents)
• Familiarity with Phillips central monitoring stations
• Experience with cardiac support devices and procedures: TAVR, Impella, IABP, Swan-Ganz catheters
• Basic competency with Omnicell and working alongside 24/7 pharmacy and RT services
