Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care across the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
• Serve as a strong patient advocate, ensuring patient safety and dignity throughout the surgical experience
• Act as the circulating nurse in the OR, coordinating supplies, equipment, and team workflow
• Direct and supervise any personnel assigned to you, fostering a collaborative team environment
• Apply the nursing process and established standards of care, policies, and procedures
• Communicate clearly with the Unit Nurse Manager, House Supervisor, and RN Team Leader about patient status and unit needs
• Maintain accurate documentation and support efficient, safe patient transitions

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — must be valid for practice in Oregon
• Experience in perioperative nursing and functioning as a circulating nurse
• Comfort supervising and directing assigned personnel
• Strong patient advocacy skills and familiarity with the nursing process
• Relevant certifications (BLS required; CNOR or perioperative certification preferred when available)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative Nursing: preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care
• Circulating nursing skills including OR coordination and equipment management
• Patient advocacy and effective communication with patients and multidisciplinary teams
• Application of the nursing process and established standards of care
• Supervision and leadership of assigned support staff
