Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist and participate in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab procedures including left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, PTCA, stent placements, Impella and IABP insertion and removal
• Set up, test, and maintain procedural equipment including fluoroscopy and Siemens imaging systems to ensure smooth, safe operations
• Perform accurate physiologic monitoring, place EKG leads, and prepare vascular access sites for procedures
• Maintain sterile field as scrub or room circulator and manage vascular closure systems such as Perclose and StarClose
• Document care clearly and timely in Epic and support medication workflows via Pyxis
• Communicate patient status and handoffs using SBAR and participate in Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
• Recognize and respond to life-threatening arrhythmias and provide immediate support during emergent events
• Respond to on-call notifications within the unit’s 30-minute response time when assigned

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Swedish facilities honor compact licenses)
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac cath lab experience; travel experience required (unit does not accept first-time travelers)
• Experience in Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab procedures (required)
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS preferred; CCI RCIS preferred
• Proven ability to function as scrub and room circulator and maintain sterile technique
• Familiarity with EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication systems preferred
• Effective SBAR communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
• Comfort with on-call responsibilities and rapid response expectations

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac cath lab procedures: stent placement, PCI, PTCA, left/right heart cath, Impella and IABP management
• Fluoroscopy operation, including Siemens imaging systems
• Vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose) and sterile technique
• EKG lead placement, physiological monitoring, and recognition of arrhythmias
• Familiarity with Epic and McKesson documentation systems and Pyxis medication system
• SBAR communication and isolation precautions/PPE practices
• Experience supporting Rapid Response/Code teams and emergent procedural work
• Equipment setup, room circulation, and scrub responsibilities in a hybrid OR/cath lab environment
