Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality therapeutic interventions under the direction of a licensed PT to help veterans regain mobility and independence
• Implement treatment plans, document patient progress, and communicate changes to the care team
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care tailored to each resident’s functional goals
• Assist with mobility, therapeutic exercise, balance training, and functional activities
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support discharge planning and ongoing rehabilitation needs
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards
• Educate residents and family members on home programs and safe mobility techniques

Qualifications

• Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) credential in good standing
• Active or eligible for Montana PTA licensure (state licensure required prior to start)
• Experience working in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric rehabilitation preferred
• CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with a veteran population
• Ability to document care thoroughly and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic exercise, gait training, and functional mobility interventions
• Familiarity with geriatric conditions common in long-term care settings
• Skilled in patient assessment, progress documentation, and care plan implementation
• Ability to adapt treatments for residents with cognitive or medical complexities
• Comfortable using electronic medical records for clinical documentation
