Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients’ functional needs and develop individualized occupational therapy plans
• Design and implement therapeutic activities that promote independence in daily living
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
• Document progress clearly and timely in the facility’s EMR to support continuity of care
• Provide family and caregiver education to maximize carryover and outcomes
• Adapt treatment plans based on ongoing assessment and patient goals
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in South Dakota or able to obtain South Dakota licensure
• OTR credential or equivalent professional certification preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Comfortable with common OT evaluations and therapeutic interventions
• Excellent communication skills and a teamwork mindset
• Professional, compassionate demeanor with a focus on patient-centered care

Education

• Master’s or entry-level Doctorate (OTD) in Occupational Therapy or equivalent degree

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL/IADL assessment and intervention planning
• Experience with therapeutic activity design, adaptive equipment, and splinting basics
• Proficient documentation practices and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Strong clinical reasoning and outcome-focused treatment planning
• Ability to educate patients, families, and staff in a clear, encouraging way
