Roles & Responsibilities

• Direct pharmacy operations across assigned sites, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant medication services
• Oversee quality assurance, performance standards and continuous improvement initiatives
• Assist the director of pharmacy in developing and implementing policies, procedures and strategic plans
• Manage financial and operational planning activities in collaboration with system leadership
• Build and maintain strong relationships with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams
• Partner with information systems to optimize pharmacy information management and inventory control
• Represent pharmacy on key committees such as P&T, Safety, Information Systems and Patient Medication Safety
• Lead human resources activities including hiring, performance management, staff development and retention efforts
• Monitor productivity, partner engagement and patient outcome targets and adjust plans to meet goals
• Step in as pharmacy manager when needed and carry out other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• PharmD degree from an accredited college or university (required)
• Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in health-system pharmacy administration or equivalent work experience (required)
• Licensed Pharmacist in Illinois (required)
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience overseeing pharmacy operations
• Proven leadership skills with experience in staffing, performance management and staff development
• Familiarity with pharmacy information systems and inventory control processes
• Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams

Education

• PharmD from an accredited college or university (required)
• ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in health-system pharmacy administration preferred or equivalent experience (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance and quality assurance
• Experience with budgeting, operational planning and performance monitoring
• Proficiency with pharmacy information management systems and charge/inventory workflows
• Skill in developing policies, procedures and medication safety initiatives
• Ability to lead committees and cross-functional teams to drive clinical and operational improvements
• Competence in human resources processes including hiring, evaluations and corrective action
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on measurable outcomes
