Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, Maryland

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (variable days), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Day shift

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults with dignity
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming
Help with mobility, transfers, and fall-prevention to keep residents safe
Monitor and document vital signs and changes in condition accurately
Communicate observations and concerns promptly to nursing staff and supervisors
Support social engagement and emotional needs to enhance quality of life
Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies consistently

Qualifications

Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent as required by state
Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Experience in long-term care, assisted living, or working with geriatric populations preferred
Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization and health requirements
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented, compassionate attitude

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
GNA certification or completion of an approved training program required

Knowledge & Skills

Working knowledge of geriatric care principles and ADL assistance
Ability to take and record vital signs and observe clinical changes
Familiarity with infection control practices and safety procedures
Good documentation skills, whether electronic charting or paper records
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with residents, families, and staff
