Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful personal care to geriatric residents
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Support safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics
• Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and timely to maintain continuity and compliance
• Help create a warm, dignified environment that promotes resident independence
• Collaborate with the care team to deliver person-centered service

Qualifications

• Active GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) credential or equivalent
• Previous experience working with older adults preferred but caring attitude is most important
• Ability to communicate clearly with residents, families, and team members
• Comfortable with lifting/assisting residents and performing physical caregiving tasks
• Up-to-date immunizations and any facility-required health checks (per policy)
• BLS/CPR certification preferred where required by facility

Education

• GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or GED (preferred/typical requirement)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
• Strong observational skills for recognizing changes in resident status
• Good documentation and time-management abilities
• Empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal communication
