Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately and promptly
- Assist nursing staff with treatments and follow care plans closely
- Document resident care and report changes in condition to nursing leadership
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the care team to ensure quality care
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (required) — must be in good standing
- Valid state authorization to work in Connecticut (as applicable)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing helpful but new grads welcome
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Ability to pass mandated health screenings and background checks
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completed accredited CNA training program and current CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident assistance
- Ability to take and record vital signs and observe clinical changes
- Familiarity with infection control and PPE best practices
- Basic documentation skills; comfortable learning electronic charting
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Teamwork, time management, and the ability to follow care plans
