Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality emergency nursing care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement and evaluate
• Provide direct patient care and coordinate with physicians for rapid decision-making
• Perform timely patient assessment and monitor telemetry as indicated
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care
• Document care accurately in EPIC and communicate changes in condition promptly
• Adhere to EMTALA regulations and collaborate with social work for reporting child/adult abuse
• Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient status and emergency situations
• Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality and professional standards at all times

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license
• EPIC experience required
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• PALS required
• NRP required
• NIHSS/Stroke Certification preferred
• DCI/BVP (MAB) training preferred
• Ability to meet compliance: negative TB, MMR/Varicella record or attestation, drug screen and background checks
• Must be available for weekend coverage and per diem night shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment skills and application of the nursing process
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Knowledgeable about EMTALA and emergency department reporting requirements
• Skilled in patient and family teaching and clear clinical communication
• Comfortable documenting and navigating EPIC
• Ability to prioritize, triage and respond in a fast-paced ED environment
