Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, compassionate nursing care to patients on a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg PCU
• Perform skilled procedures including IV starts, basic wound care, and management of surgical drains
• Care for patients with nasogastric tubes and chest tubes safely and confidently
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to identify changes in patient status
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Meditech to maintain excellent clinical records
• Prioritize patient needs and coordinate care across the interdisciplinary team
• Deliver bedside shift report and engage patients and families in meaningful care planning
• Float to other units per rotation when needed and support unit staffing needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Med/Surg or PCU experience preferred)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS required
• Comfortable with IV starts, basic wound care, and management of chest tubes/NG tubes
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Ability to multitask, prioritize care, and provide compassionate patient- and family-centered care

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Meditech documentation system
• Experience using IV pumps, feeding pumps, PCA devices, and continuous pulse oximetry
• Familiarity with telemetry and EKG monitoring
• Comfortable with bladder scanners and bedside technologies like iMobile communication
• Strong patient prioritization, triage, and multitasking skills
• Clear bedside communication and ability to perform effective shift-to-shift handoffs
