Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to ICU patients, including ventilated and post‑operative cardiac patients
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and interpret physiologic trends to guide timely interventions
• Manage mechanical ventilation and participate in weaning and ventilator troubleshooting
• Care for patients on advanced therapies such as ECMO and post-transplant support when applicable
• Deliver post-CABG and other cardiac post-op care in collaboration with the cardiac team
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record (Meditech/Epic) and complete bedside shift reports
• Collaborate with intensivists, multidisciplinary teams, and support staff to ensure safe, coordinated care
• Support unit safety and quality initiatives, following unit policies and attendance guidelines

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU/critical care nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Hands-on experience with mechanical ventilation and hemodynamic monitoring
• Experience in CVICU, ECMO, heart transplant or post-CABG care is highly preferred
• Comfortable working in a high-acuity environment and able to float to other ICUs as needed
• Familiarity with Meditech and Epic documentation systems is a plus

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Texas (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care knowledge: ventilators, hemodynamics, vasoactive drips
• Clinical assessment and acute intervention skills for unstable patients
• Proficient documentation skills in Meditech and/or Epic
• Excellent communication and teamwork during bedside shift reports and handoffs
• Ability to prioritize in a busy, high-acuity ICU and maintain attention to detail
• Professional appearance and adherence to unit dress code and policies
