Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality perioperative and post-operative nursing care for cardiovascular surgery patients
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data, telemetry, and vital signs to keep patients safe
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care plans
• Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies safely and accurately
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate changes promptly to the care team
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families during the surgical journey
• Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control standards in the OR and recovery areas
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or eligibility under the Nurse Licensure Compact
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (as listed in the job data) — cardiovascular surgery or acute care experience preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work in high-acuity surgical settings and prioritize patient safety
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or equivalent; BSN preferred
• Continuing education and specialty training in cardiovascular/perioperative nursing encouraged

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and postoperative care
• Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting telemetry
• Skilled in wound care, chest tube management, and postoperative respiratory support
• Medication administration and titration experience in critical care settings
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting accurately
• Critical thinking, rapid assessment, and effective clinical prioritization
