Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in a progressive care unit
• Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in cardiac and neurological status
• Start and manage IV therapy, PCA, feeding pumps, and other infusion devices safely
• Perform wound care and maintain surgical drains, chest tubes, and nasogastric tubes as needed
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while documenting in Meditech
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement patient-centered care plans
• Provide bedside shift report and engage patients and families in care decisions
• Prioritize patient assignments to ensure timely interventions and a positive patient experience
• Respond quickly to emergencies and escalate care appropriately

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (required)
• BLS certification (required); ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in Med/Surg, PCU, or telemetry
• Proven IV start skills, basic wound care, and experience managing surgical drains, chest tubes, and nasogastric tubes
• Comfortable working with telemetry monitoring and electronic charting in Meditech
• Strong prioritization, multitasking, and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Meditech electronic documentation and charting
• IV pumps, PCA, feeding pumps, and infusion management
• EKG basics, bladder scanner use, and continuous pulse oximetry
• Patient assessment, critical thinking, and delegation
• Excellent bedside communication and bedside shift report
