Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit
• Assess patients, develop prioritized care plans, and adjust interventions as needed
• Start and manage IVs, provide wound care, and maintain surgical drains
• Care for nasogastric and chest tubes when required, ensuring safety and comfort
• Monitor telemetry and interpret EKG rhythms to support timely interventions
• Document accurately and efficiently in Meditech to maintain quality records
• Collaborate with unit staff, techs, and physicians to ensure smooth patient flow
• Provide bedside shift report and meaningful patient/family education

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Comfortable with IV insertion, wound care, and maintenance of drains and tubes
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and basic EKG interpretation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and thrive during 12-hour night shifts
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems is a plus

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN/BSN) preferred; equivalent RN training accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med/Surg clinical knowledge and critical thinking
• Proficient with Meditech documentation workflows
• Experience using IV pumps, feeding pumps, PCA, and continuous pulse oximetry
• Comfortable with telemetry equipment, EKG machines, and bladder scanner use
• Skilled at time management, prioritization, and multitasking under pressure
• Excellent communication and bedside reporting skills
