Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality echocardiography studies using established protocols to support accurate diagnoses
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal image acquisition and equipment readiness
- Assess images in real time and communicate findings clearly to interpreting physicians
- Provide compassionate patient care — explain procedures, position patients safely, and monitor comfort
- Document studies and patient information accurately using Cerner charting systems
- Adhere to safety, infection control, and departmental policies to maintain a safe care environment
- Participate in orientation and collaborate with the Allied team to deliver excellent patient outcomes
Qualifications
- RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of sonography experience (echocardiography preferred)
- License to submit required (facility/state licensure as applicable)
- Proven competency with cardiac ultrasound protocols and patient-centered imaging
- Comfortable using Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
Education
- No BSN required
- Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent clinical experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of echocardiography techniques and cardiac anatomy
- Proficiency in image optimization and Doppler assessment
- Patient positioning and safe handling techniques for imaging
- Familiarity with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
- Clear communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with physicians and clinical staff
- Attention to detail and ability to produce consistent, high-quality diagnostic images
