Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and patient assessments with compassion and accuracy
• Manage ventilators, deliver advanced airway support, and titrate oxygen therapies
• Perform and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide clinical decisions
• Administer nebulized medications, bronchodilators, and other respiratory treatments
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure safety and readiness
• Document interventions and patient responses clearly and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and home care plans

Qualifications

• Active Virginia Respiratory Care Practitioner license required
• CRT or RRT credential preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Minimum acute care experience preferred (1+ year recommended)
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts including weekends and rotating schedules
• Clear communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field required; BS in Respiratory Therapy or Healthcare preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment skills for adult and pediatric respiratory patients
• Proficiency with ventilator management and respiratory devices
• Ability to perform and interpret ABGs and pulmonary function basics
• Familiarity with oxygen delivery systems, aerosol therapy, and airway management
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting care accurately
• Excellent teamwork, time management, and critical thinking under pressure
