Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room with sterile instruments and supplies, ensuring everything is ready before the patient arrives
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team efficiently and safely throughout procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique and anticipate the surgeon's needs to keep procedures flowing
• Assist with instrument counts, specimen handling and documentation to support patient safety
• Clean, care for and inventory surgical instruments and equipment after procedures
• Communicate clearly with nurses, surgeons and support staff to promote a smooth OR environment

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or other relevant certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
• Previous operating room experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical training are welcome
• Ability to pass facility background and credentialing requirements
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork mindset and excellent communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of sterile technique and OR asepsis
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and procedural trays
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and respond quickly under pressure
• Basic familiarity with instrument sterilization, handling and storage
• Good documentation skills and adherence to safety protocols
