Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments, ensuring sterile technique and safety
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and anticipating needs during procedures
• Perform instrument counts and document supplies accurately before, during, and after cases
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant OR environment between cases
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia providers to support smooth case flow
• Adhere to infection control protocols and facility policies to protect patients and staff
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain competency and best practices

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Current state requirements for Surgical Technologist practice in Washington
• Comfort working in a fast-paced OR setting and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Professional, detail-oriented, and committed to patient safety

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• High school diploma or GED required; additional clinical training preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• A solid grasp of sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment handling
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in the perioperative setting
• Ability to perform instrument counts and basic documentation accurately
• Adaptability to changing case schedules and priorities
